haircute

lately it seems like there are cute bob and pixie haircuts everywhere i turn. perhaps it's part of clean 40s prep menswear look that a lot of girls are embracing. or maybe it's the influence of the inevitable return to grunge. whatever the reason, i'm loving the look.

i would love to be one of those cute girls too but that would require me to have completely different hair and a real hair care regimen other than my super sophisticated wash and air dry routine, something i can't be bothered with. and the last time i tried it, i looked like an moon faced boy who stood too close to one of those static balls in the science museum.

but one can dream of that perfectly tousled feminine tomboy cool these girls effortlessly exude.

first cupcakes, then moonpies...

could homemade pop tarts be the next big food thing?

i sure hope so. it's like a hand pie, but more fun. and just think of all the sweet and savory possibilities, fresh peach, strawberry rhubarb, bacon/spinach/swiss!

LA's nickel diner was the first place to blow my mind with their delicious mixed berry version.

poptart

and now smitten kitchen has a recipe for NUTELLA ones!!!

i'm gonna make these RIGHT NOW. what kind will you make?

happiest high-fives ever

While driving back to where we were staying with Warren and Bryan in Memphis for the night, I spied, in my little eye, a polar bear statue. That, in itself, was an exciting discovery, but even more exciting was that he was throwing snowballs. AND he was there to advertise ice cream. AND! Even though the ice cream place was gone, the bear was still there, and now he draws attention to a pawn shop. Thank you, polar bear friend. Keep the ice-cream-shoppe-snowball-in-the-south dream alive. We'll never forget you.
